Be successful by following these steps

As an international student, preparation is important. Use the following lists to ensure that you are prepared before you leave for ASU and once you arrive:

  • Check My ASU regularly to complete the items under the “Priority Tasks” section.
  • Follow the steps to get your visa, get registered in classes and prepare your accommodations in the U.S.

International students are encouraged to complete the digital orientation available on My ASU prior to arriving at ASU. After you complete the digital orientation, your academic advisor can help you get registered for classes. Finish these steps prior to starting your digital orientation:

  • Take the ALEKS Mathematics Placement Assessment: ASU requires all incoming freshmen to take a math placement exam online at least 72 hours prior to enrollment. You will not be able to register for courses without a math placement score.
  • Submit proof of measles immunization: ASU requires students meet the immunization requirement for the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine (MMR) before class registration. Check ASU Health Services for more information.

Once you arrive in the United States, be sure to complete your SEVIS Check-in and attend the International Student Orientation in person. If you have any questions, contact the International Students and Scholars Center (ISSC). ISSC offers a variety of events, can answer questions about your visa status, and can help with guidance for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT) work authorization. International Student Engagement can also help you get involved with the global community on campus.
