Transferring credits

Many of our students come with transfer credits from other institutions or plan to take courses at other institutions while still enrolled at ASU. We have several tools available to assist you in transferring credits.

Use our Transfer Guide and Course Search to see how your transfer courses have been evaluated to apply at ASU.

Don’t see a course you completed at another college or university in our Course Search? It means the course has not yet been evaluated. Submit your course for evaluation .

Critical requirements

Critical requirements are milestones that faculty have identified on a Major Map as predictors of success in a specific major. Critical requirements can be courses, grades, GPAs or non-curricular requirements such as submitting a fingerprint clearance card. Critical requirements appear in terms 1-4 of your Major Map.

These requirements determine some of the notifications you may see on your My ASU page in your My Programs box. The notifications include:

Graduation Audit

The Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS) is a personalized audit that will allow you to track your progress toward meeting degree requirements and serves as the official degree checkout for the Graduation Office when you apply for graduation. Your degree audit can be found on your MyASU page in the My Programs box under Degree Progress.

Academic Status Reports

Academic Status Reports (ASR) allow faculty to provide weekly feedback to you regarding your class performance. Through your MyASU page, you may see an indicator notifying you that you have received an ASR, which can include suggested follow-up items and information about academic resources so that you can get the help you need to be successful in that course.

Receiving ASU credit by examination

Students may receive credit for an ASU course by taking an examination in place of the actual course. Some exams may be taken prior to admission to ASU. These examinations include AP, IB, CLEP and other proficiency exams.

Please contact your academic advisor for further information on how your exam credits may be applied to your degree program.
