Undergraduate students are eligible for the Dean’s List if they earn 12 or more graded credit hours (“A+,” “A,” “A-,” “B+,” “B,” “B-,” “C+,” “C,” “D” or “E”) during a semester in residence at ASU with a GPA of 3.50 or higher. A notation regarding the Dean’s List achievement will appear on the unofficial transcript and students will be notified by the College of Health Solutions via letter after the Grade Replacement and Academic Standing Processing deadline.
University academic good standing is defined as maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 or higher. This standard is in effect for all students, regardless of catalog year, beginning in fall 2013. Learn more about retention and academic standards.
A student who does not achieve the minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 at the completion of the first term of study at ASU will be placed on academic warning and will receive notification. No advising or enrollment holds will be placed. If a student receives an academic warning, we highly encourage them to complete the College of Health Solutions Rising Scholars course.
If after one term with an academic warning, a student still does not achieve the minimum 2.00 GPA standard, the student will be placed on academic probation for at least one additional term.
If a student's GPA first falls below the standard 2.00 requirement in a term that is not the student's first term at ASU, the student will be placed on academic probation. Failure to return to good academic standing after being placed on probation may result in disqualification.
If a student remains on academic probation for two consecutive semesters and is unable to achieve the minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA for academic good standing, they can be disqualified from the university. Learn more about disqualification.
Students who leave ASU on academic probation, or who have been disqualified from their academic program, go through a reinstatement process during readmission to ASU. The College of Health Solutions does not reinstate students into degree programs with GPA requirements or programs that are designed for post-baccalaureate study, such as medical studies or kinesiology. Additionally, we do not consider students eligible for readmission into programs where the student has not successfully completed required courses. Once readmitted and reinstated, students must meet with an academic advisor to have the advising hold removed and complete the College of Health Solutions Rising Scholars course.
We are dedicated to student success and aim to help students on academic probation get back on the path for academic achievement. Students in the College of Health Solutions who are placed on academic warning, probation or continuing probation are required to complete the online Canvas course, CHS Rising Scholars, for the term in which they were placed on probation. Academic advising holds will not be released for the following semester until the CHS Rising Scholars course has been completed with 100%. Students will be notified and receive instructions via email, as well as have advising holds placed on their MyASU page, if they need to complete the course.
CHS Rising Scholars is non-credit course with no tuition or fee. The course will take you through important information about your current standing and the resources ASU has to help you bring your grades up. The embedded quizzes will confirm for us that you understand your academic standing and the resources available. Please note that the quizzes are reviewed by ASU staff during business hours and they are not automatically graded.
